You Matter

Crescent Moon

A crescent moon
Hangs low on the horizon
I pause at my bedroom window
Contemplating the view
I cease my meandering thoughts
And engage fully in feeling
Stretching my consciousness
Out over the city
The lights against the backdrop
Of dark night sky
Gives a sense of something beautiful
But reality lives on the periphery
And I’m thoughtful of the people
I’m reminded that most
Can’t fathom the depths
At which real life truly lives and breathes
There is so much more than the eyes
Can superficially see
There is more to life
Than the collection of shiny things
If you never wake up
The moments of this dream will be squandered
On nothing but sparkling toys lacking true and lasting meaning
It’s no way to live
It’s no way to be
Not when the only thing you take with you
Is the love you build inside and with others
Sleep now dear city
I whisper to the darkness
May you awaken in this dream
When the sun next returns

Life Happens

You can try to map out every single detail of a goal, mitigate every potential failure and upset and even develop multiple contingency plans to ensure you have complete control of a desired outcome and it can still go wrong. Sometimes it isn't the destination that matters, it's the journey...it's the dreaming...it's the planning...its the focus and determination to learn about yourself in the process. So, when life comes along and upsets your plans, find the love within to guide you and trust yourself to realize your truest dreams regardless. Don't ever give up and realize you can't plan for every contingency but you can be open to suggestions the universe will inevitably throw you for your highest growth. Stay positive. Be positive. Love yourselves no matter what it is you face and you cannot really fail.~Blessings!!!

Sensing Energy

There are so many subtle things about this world that we miss all the time.  I’m thinking specifically of energy.  Maybe it’s a simple matter of focus.  I think of it like hearing a radio but not knowing what music is.  You hear it but dismiss it because there are no words to help you understand what you are hearing and separating out what you hear to recognize it as something.  But, once you know what it is, you can hear it even if it the music is on so low that it is barely audible.  Many things in life are like this.  As far as energy, did you know that we emanate various frequencies of energy based on our moods and our beliefs?  This is not made up.  You can search youtube.com or the internet for information on the field of energy the human heart alone generates.  You feel it but without knowing its there, you cannot define it and pull that energy out from all of the other sensations that you are taking in to realize what it is.  We generate energy.  Everything on this planet emanates an energy field.  When you learn to tune into the energy and define it from the rest of the sensations you’re taking in you can begin to discern a little bit more about the energy you are perceiving once you get some practice with what different types of energy feels like.  Just like different music on the radio, it takes time to listen to the different songs and then you can name them or even sing along with them.

Another thing about energy is that it carries signatures that we eventually learn to pick up on and after some time and practice, you can read the energy and learn from that energy.  You can begin to discern what the energy of love feels like versus the energy of anger, sorrow or sadness.  You can begin to discern when people around you are troubled or elated.  When you pay even more attention, rooms will begin to speak to you, places that hold energy for various reasons will begin speaking to you and you will begin to discern the history as well as presence of energy any place you go.  There is nothing mystical or magical about this.  The one thing I would say is that just like people have various levels of acuity in their hearing, so too, do people have various levels of “feeling” and “discerning” energy.  Sometimes the feeling becomes automatically translated to words in one’s mind…sometimes you feel the energy and can find no words to define it until you have enough experience to read the energy.

To change the subject for a moment, but only seemingly, I was born empathic.  I could feel all emotion.  I could walk into a room and instantly know who was upset, angry or happy.  It was a useful tool growing up in my home.  I always thought empathy was more internal and intuitive but now that I think about it, it is an energy sensitivity.  Emotions generate energy in our fields.  Some perceive it as auric colors, some perceive it in variations of thickness of air in a room and some feel in their bodies where an energy emanates in others.  I believe now that it is all the same thing.  For many reasons we can feel each other and so without even knowing what is happening, we can posture energetically or emotionally to deal with people we face who are giving off a certain type of energy.  It is so fascinating to me how little we understand about energy.  Connecting this knowledge to something else is even more fascinating…intent.  What if we used our intent to specifically manifest certain types of energies so that others could purposefully fear them?  When our governments and politicians speak words that generate fear, they are generating a certain kind of energy and as the words are passed on from person to person we infect each other with the energy of fear, panic, woe, anger, etc.  Awareness of this in the wrong hands can result in some very negative consequences but not having awareness can have equally negative consequences.

Consider the volume, just on facebook alone, of all the of the life coaches, spiritual thinkers and loving individuals posting thoughts to make you think, reach higher, heal and return to a more positive and loving state.  Do you know why this is occurring?  Well, some are aware of what they are doing on purpose – like me – and some just know how good it feels to generate positive energy and infect others with beautiful positive energy brings about a positive frame for many to work within.  Either way, it’s a good counter to all of the tragic and fearful energies rampant in this world.  If we want to change, we are going to have to learn more about ourselves and the tools we have available to us to make changes.  Become aware of your energy.  Become aware of the energy you intentionally or even unconsciously emanate.  Everything in this world matters.  Your thoughts matter.  Your feelings matter.  Your words matter.  Your dreams matter.  We were not put here to destroy ourselves and each other.  We were put here to refine our souls, to learn and to grow.  Devastation and destruction need not be part of that equation but until we pull our heads out of the sand and learn to see what is real out there and understand just how we contribute either to the problems in this world or the solutions, we’ll only consciously contribute to the status quo.  That is just no longer an option for us.  We are growing too much for that to be acceptable.

Know this one thing, through the light of consciously dreaming in this incarnation, we can change what we feel and what we see.  We may not get the benefit of seeing the many transformations we create but we can trust that if we harness our own awareness and let that awareness be completely undeterred in its mission to align with the positive, we will make a change, we will help one another and we will return to ourselves and the truth of our existence here on this plane.  With these words, I am sending nothing but love and light to give you food for thought on your journey to awareness, to love and the conscious creation of your beautiful dreams.  When we open ourselves up to create in the positive, we emanate love and light and affect those around us and that affect is like ripples and waves that travel across the planet.  Like a smile that travels from stranger to stranger across the globe returning to you when you need it most, so does the energy of love and light travel.  So, if everything creates energy, do you now see how your intent and words create a field of energy?  If you continually string together a tale of woe in every human interaction, you are putting negative energy and fear out there in this world.   We’ve all done it.  But, when we become aware of what we’re doing, we awaken from the illusion and can begin to consciously create our dreams in this world, receive the beautiful love and light of this world and even begin to transform it into something better.  Just some food for thought over coffee this morning…~Blessings!

You can create of your life, a series of magical mysteries for you to uncover. You can create exquisite simplicity and drink in the pure joy and bliss of special moments shared. You can create nightmares of this dream you are living and breathing. But every single breath and step is designed to bring you closer to who you really are. Forget about shooting the messengers and instead realize it is you who creates and it is you who truly desires to understand your life and your purpose. It begins with you. It begins with love. Embrace you and create your life in broad beautiful strokes of color and depth, meaning and bliss. Every effort matters. You matter.

Rise Above Yourself

It’s foggy and cool out this morning.  I’m sipping coffee enjoying the diffused light through the mist.  It’s the second day of 2012 and I think I’m very much over all of the reflection…well, except for the good stuff.  Do you want to know why?  Well, I’ve encountered many challenges this past year.  As I recall them, I get the lessons – oh yeah, but when I recall and reflect on challenges of the past, I put my body through the emotional aspect of reliving those moments.  What I notice in my body is heart palpitations, quickening heart rate, along with anxiety and discomfort.  So, I stop reflecting at the level the challenges came to me and raise up quite a bit to the themes of what occurred.  It is not matter of denial, it is acceptance for what was and refusal to relive the events at the level the challenges were created.  There is no point in reliving any of your challenges at the level they were created.  In order to push past the pain, the fear and discomfort, one must absolutely rise above it to the level of the lesson in the higher realms of thought as well as the real feelings and understanding in the soul.  When you rise up into the position of the observer (as Tolle so aptly put it) you step up and away from the level at which a lesson or challenge occurred and you then create a safe vantage point from which you can view the themes without reliving the pain.  Feelings are felt and so to us, they are real.  But pain seems to hurt the most only when we stand to defend and resist whatever happened at the level of the pain.

Rising above the situation is no easy thing so let me see if I can explain how to rise above it.  When people hurt us and we think thoughts of, “Why would they hurt me?” or “How dare they do this or that and I’m going to get them back for it,” you are reliving the pain at the level it was created and also trying to solve it from a painful place which will never result in true and lasting satisfaction.  When you flip things around to the first step of higher level thinking, such as, “Why might I have chosen this particular experience to learn from?” or “What can I do to understand the truth of this situation?” or even “How can I open myself to the state of grace necessary to receive the true meaning of this, glean the lesson and move on from it?” you start to rise above it.  Now, you can move even higher from ground zero if you just sit with your emotion without any judgment for yourself or any others involved and identify where in your body it hurts or feels heavy, what emotions you seem to be feeling and what untruths your mind now tells you about you concerning this situation.  If you can strive to sort out this bundle of effects from a lesson, you can take accountability, you can begin to think clearly and experience the situation differently.

From there, with some effort and time spent just feeling your way through without adding any additional labels or negative thought, you can begin to free yourself to a state of acceptance for what occurred as a necessary part of your growth.  I’m not saying this is something one can do over night but it is something we can do to help ensure our growth and healing from a painful or challenging situation.  Its work!  Hard work!  But hey, you’re worth it right? So, why not seek to understand the higher meaning of the situations, even painful ones, that you have faced.  I think back to one example in my life…If I had not experienced something really painful, hurtful and humiliating, I would not have known that there are people in your life that will love you for you no matter what.  If I had not experienced something incredibly ugly, I might have missed the days and weeks and months that followed where a beautiful group of souls willingly helped me out of pure love…they showed me what real love was and that despite my normal negative patterns of thought when dealing with such situations, the bulk of the pain was of my own designs due to untruths I told myself…one’s I learned from, well, that doesn’t even matter.  What matters is, I found loyalty, love, beauty, friendship and so much more from a very challenging situation.  I no longer see it as the threat and devastating event I once saw it as.  The interesting thing is that the more I embrace understanding the lesson, the farther I get from the pain of the event…I begin to see the light, the love, the purpose and the learning…very important learning I gleaned from a lesson.  Life lessons – whoa can they be fun sometimes!  And I use the word “fun” very sarcastically!  But, we came here to learn and learn we will and hopefully we will come to the other side of our lessons, stronger, wiser and much more loving of not only others but with ourselves.

Sometimes I think we must travel through doorways of incredible pain in order to get us to look at ourselves differently.  Sometimes the view we think we have of us is not very pretty until we understand how we came to hold such opinions, judgments and perspectives and then we learn how absolutely perfect we truly are and then, so, must every event we encounter be!  Life can seem so imperfect and so often, so can we and others.  But if we always hold the intent or willingness to see things differently, to embrace our own higher learning and know definitively that the mistakes we judge ourselves so harshly for are really designed to show us the core of our own beautiful souls, we can get through anything.  We can…not without effort but we can do it.  The really beautiful part, I think, is when we’re done processing these challenging situations.  We can then bring ourselves closer to the truth about our lives and our purpose in it.  None of us walks alone in this world.  It is only our perspectives that tell us the things we perceive are real.  Only when another shows up on our path bending light in another direction and we become willing to see where the light is reflecting the truth, can we truly free ourselves from difficulty we encounter due to our life lessons.

I understand the meaning of “rise above it” now.  It is not dismissing or burying the pain of a situation.  It’s merely letting go of the gravity that created the challenges and seeking to understand and free ourselves from the pain.  In so doing, we learn more and more about ourselves and begin to understand the true beauty that lies within us.  We are so powerful that we don’t even fully comprehend it.  Our thoughts weigh us down like lead shoes or raise us up to imaginable heights of true understanding.  I think that the pendulum of emotion swings wide sometimes but know that although your feelings may feel very real and very much like facts, they may not represent the whole truth of a situation.  Seeking the truth of the situation helps bring you closer to the light.  Everything has purpose and everything matters.  Consider the choices you make and where you continually find yourself.  If you don’t like where you are, your own thoughts have the power to raise you up or keep you grounded.  Rather than remaining mired in pain and rebelling against it or plotting revenge against whoever it is you think put you there, stop for a moment and observe your feelings…then, look for the untruths you tell yourself, right your thinking in a loving and non-judgmental way and step up and out of the pain.  Like I said, its work but you, well, you ARE worth it.  Give it a try and if you struggle, ask for help…pray, talk to friends, reach out for counseling or read books that might help you understand.  Just don’t stay at ground zero.  Don’t chose that for yourself.  Choose to be free by understanding and then taking the steps to rise above it.  Blessings of love, peace, healing and light!
